Hi everyone-
I'm trying to find an efficient implementation of a percentile UDAF (or a median or histogram function, since those would be built on the same approach) for Impala 1.2/1.2.1. The Hive implementation is regrettably not portable, as it's in Java (the Impala 1.2.1 docs claim Java UDAs are acceptable as well as C++, but Impala actually throws an AnalysisExceptionw ith "Java UDSas are not
Currently, I am using CDH 5 and with impala 1.3.0 and need of median function while converting some legacy code. I did see from github that there is approximate median implemented - but i am not sure which version this is available. Is there a way to test the approximate median function on CDH 5.0 ?

In RDBMS, or EDW, drilldown is an import function.
In impala ,because thers is not have rowkey or index, then how can i implement drilldown ?
Hello,
I have a quick question!
I know that Hive UDFs implemented in Java are not usable from Impala (at least not currently), but is it possible to define UDFs that are purely SQL-based?
In other words, I could write one big-ass query with a bunch of duplicate SQL code inlined into it, but would it be possible to be more DRY by defining the duplicate code as a function and calling upon that function
Hi,
select UNIX_TIMESTAMP('2000-01-01 10:20:30','yyyy-MM-dd') ;
IMPALA returns NULL,
where as hive returns 946713600.
Any idea on this issue?

Hello Experts,
I am trying to create an UDF which accepts 4 parameters in input and returns string. Same UDF jar file works perfectly on Hive. However Impala gives the following error.
Here is the IMPALA Create Function Statement that I used.
create function PolymapUDFgen4(string, int, int, double, double, double) returns string location '/user/test/udf_test/PolygonMap2.jar' symbol='PolyMapUDFgen
Hi,

Here's output from hive
hive> select (lpad(sessionid,2,'0')) from accesslog;

Hi,
I'm using impala 1.2.3 CDH4 on CentOS 6.5 x86_64. I've built an
UDF function that calculates the Base64 value of a given string:
StringVal Base64Encode(FunctionContext* context, const StringVal& arg1) {
if (arg1.is_null) return StringVal::null();
string arg1_string((const char *)arg1.ptr, arg1.len);
// string base64_string = base64_encode(arg1_string);

hi, dear impala developers and users:
i git-clone the impala from the github: https://github.com/cloudera/Impala and checkout the master branch.
when i compile the source code by executing the script ./buildall.sh, i encounter some errors, such as:
ERROR 1:
