I am trying to understand the Extended BSON format http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Mongo+Extended+JSON
According to the link, MongoDB can understand all three representations. However, the mongo-java driver cannot understand all of them e.g. https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/mongodb-user/oRPnfS70yd0
What is the need of all the representations? I would expect conforming with the
trying to access mongodb on via mongodb shell,
but its giving me
-bash: mongo: command not found
any reason why?
thanks
I want to upgrade my MongoDB from 2.4.9 to 2.6.11
- I have a cluster running with 3 nodes
- I ran the command db.upgradeCheckAllDBs() using 2.6 extracted binaries
- Got the output : Everything is ready for the upgrade!
- When i exit from mongo shell and again connect to mongo using 2.6.11
shell with the user having userAdminAnyDatabase role
*>db.getSiblingDB("admin").
Hello,
when checking out mongodb 2.5.5 I wonder why the mongo shell seems so much slower than the 2.4.9 mongo shell. Therefore I testet the following:
500000 inserts on 2.5.5 mongodb with Javascript running on 2.5.5 mongo shell 3 minutes
500000 inserts on 2.5.5 mongodb with Javascript running on 2.4.9 mongo shell 20 seconds
500000 inserts on 2.4.9 mongodb with Javascript running on 2.5.5 mongo shell
The following string
{"Long Text": /MISC|CORRECTION|FAVORABLE|OTHER|TEMPORARY|DEFERRED|RECOGNIZE/i }
is passed to com.mongodb.util.JSONParser.parse with a call of
DBObject dbObject = (DBObject)JSON.parse( sourceQuery );
The resulting code throws an error:
Exception in thread "main" com.mongodb.util.JSONParseException:
{"Long Text": /MISC|CORRECTION|FAVORABLE|OTHER|TEMPORARY|DEFERRED|RECOGNIZE
"mongo::fromjson" doesn't seem to be able to parse NumberInt, NumberLong, ISODate or ObjectId. How in C++ can I get extended JSON parsed like the mongo shell does?
Thanks,
John McCulloch

For other MongoDB
from mongo shell I can execute this query:
db.foo.find({"$or":[{ "bar" : { "$gte" : 012 , "$lt" : 014}},
{ "bar" : { "$gte" :012}}], "$or":[{ "age" : { "$gte" : 32 , "$lt" :
34}}, { "age" : { "$gt" : 36}}]})
from java driver if i try the equivalent I get the first $or
overwritten and end up with:
{$or:[ { "age" : { "$gte" : 32 , "$lt" : 34}} , { "age" : { "$gt" :
36}}]}
This is normal,
is there any tools to help develop mongo shell,write js,thanks.
